Holiday Dogs Group Walks – sponsored by Hudson Signs
Holiday Dogs Group Walks are designed to give dogs and owners a chance to meet and greet, and to basically go for a group walk together. They are open to anyone, any age so come along (with a dog if you have one!) and help raise money for the Animal Health Trust to help with their investigations into Seasonal Canine Ilness. Walks are at various locations around Suffolk and usually lasts around 1 hour to 1 hour 30 mins. Donations can be made on the day, all proceeds going to the Animal Health Trust.
If you would like to come along and join in the fun, then please register your interest with Mary-Ann on 07712 270415.
Another lovely (but blustery!) walk was enjoyed by all at Felixstowe, walking around the Languard Fort area and finishing off with a run and a play on the beach, and for some a swim in the sea!
The walk was in aid of the Animal Health Trust, to help them with their investigations into Seasonal Canine Illness. The Animal Health Trust do not know exactly what the causes SCI, but it’s generally seen between August and November and it can affect any size, shape or sex of dog and that it causes dogs to become very ill, very quickly. The most common clinical signs are sickness, diarrhoea and lethargy. If you suspect your dog is showing signs of SCI then please contact your vet immediately.
We shall be holding another group walk soon, details to follow.
Dogs brought their owners along to meet up at Long Strops Entrance, Kesgrave on Saturday 12th May where the eager dogs where keen to be let off the lead and allowed to run freely together with their new found friends.
Everyone enjoyed a much deserving walk in the sunshine with some good company along the way, making a refreshing
change to walking alone in the rain!
Generous voluntary donations were made, totalling to £72.50 with all proceeds going to the Animal Health Trust to help them with their investigations into Seasonal Canine Illness (SCI).

Previous Group Walks
Rendlesham Forest, Daisys Walk – March 2012
The ever hardy group of dog walkers were not put off by the rain and all the dogs enjoyed a fun filled 90 minutes of running around and splashing in the water together. As always they had a wonderful time walking through the forest and running in and out of the trees! Again, all proceeds from the registration fees went to the Animal Health Trust to help them with their investigations into Seasonal Canine Illness, click here for more info on SCI. So far we have raised an outstanding amount of £616 from just 2 walks! Thanks to everyone involved and look forward to more walks during 2012.
Languard Fort, Felixstowe – December 2012
We received a great turnout with lots of very excited dogs, and rather cold owners as we battled against the cold wind of Felixstowe, where we met at the Manor Terrace Car Park.
Really enjoyed the brilliant group dog walk on Saturday Mary-Ann, thank you so much for letting me know about it. Cookie, my little Yorkie Russel almost burst with excitement when he saw how many doggie friends he was going to be able to play with – I think the picture of him running with Rocky the Bichon chasing him rather speaks for itself. He couldn’t have had a better day! The other owners were lovely too, I especially liked the lady who commented that she knew her dog was behaving herself because she had her, ‘good girl ears on’. Still makes me laugh thinking about that. Great fun and will be looking to come along on many more. Cookie will definitely be badgering me to let him see his doggie friends again…even though he was TOTALLY flaked out afterwards and wouldn’t even wake up for his favourite chicken and rice dinner! See you soon. Liz
Rocky our Bichon Frise puppy absolutely loved the group dog walk through Long Strops! As Liz mentioned above, Rocky spent lots of time playing with Cookie! He also loves getting together with Eric and Casper!
Rocky is my first dog so the group dog walks are fantastic for meeting other dog owners and getting some handy tips. Rocky is also an extremely sociable puppy so it’s a brilliant way for him to meet other dogs and have lots of fun!
Thank you to Mary-Ann for organising a great walk, you can definitely count Rocky in on the next group walk!
Bryn (the Welsh Terrier) and I are newcomers to Mary-ann’s walking fraternity! We had a great time walking with all the other dog lovers on the Long Strops walk and Bryn loves nothing more than making new friends he can run and play with (and boss about as well!)The weather was glorious and we enjoyed walking somewhere different. Bryn has also become quite the media star with his photo in the paper! Thank you Mary-ann for arranging the walk and we look forward to the next one.
Well I have taken Kassie on two lovely walks, one was in Rendlesham Forest and the more recent one at Long Strops in Kesgrave. Kassie meets loads of other friendly doggie’s to play with and her hoomans love to chat to new & old friends we both have a wonderful time Mary-Ann does a fantastic job in organising these events,Kassie is hoping to go on the next walk at Languard however one of her hoomans will have her leg in plaster so unfortunately won’t be able to join in. I can recommend these wonderful walks for all the little doggies and their hoomans out there, come on guys join in and it is a wonderful charity.
We’re really grateful to Holiday Dogs for arranging these sponsored walks which are helping to raise much needed funds for our SCI investigation. We hope everyone taking part is getting something out of it too!
Please send us a list of forthcoming dog walks. We would like to attent with our 3 golden retrievers.
Thanks.
